Luminator Speeds Mass-Transit Service and Repairs with Agentforce
Luminator technology will support up to 1,500 new BVG metro cars with integrated passenger information designed for long-term performance
May 2021
Berlin Transport Authority (BVG) is expanding its metro fleet by more than one third, with up to 1,500 new metro cars planned for delivery over 15 years. Working with Stadler, Luminator was selected to provide passenger information technology for both large- and small-profile vehicles. The solution combines ultra-flat TFT displays, LED technology, HTML5 browser-based passenger information, VDV 301 device management, and remote access and configuration. The systems are designed to deliver real-time information while meeting demanding requirements for installation depth, data compatibility, energy efficiency, and maintenance.
The project required more than technology built for today. BVG and Stadler needed a supplier capable of supporting a large, long-term program, including spare parts and service for the next 32 years. Close cooperation with Stadler helped Luminator meet the design requirements while achieving a high level of system integration across both vehicle types. The result is excellent image quality, real-time information for passengers and BVG employees, energy and cost efficiency, and long-term service assurance through local providers.
